Under the Scheme, the fish farmers are provided with assistance in the form of subsidy in cash for construction of new ponds/renovation of existing ponds and in kinds (inputs) viz:- fish seeds, prawn seeds (PL), fish feed etc. for fish/prawn culture. Assistance is also provided for setting up fish seed hatchery, fish feed unit, freshwater prawn hatchery, ornamental fish hatcheries etc. as per the approved pattern of Govt. of India’s assistance through FFDA units established in the State (5 units at present viz:- Aizawl, Lunglei, Saiha, Kolasib and Mamit. Another 3 units for the new districts viz:- Champhai, Serchhip and Lawngtlai are also anticipated to establish soon).

District Level Fish Farmers Development Agency Units in Mizoram i.e Aizawl, Lunglei, Chhimtuipui, Mamit and Kolasib.

The terms of reference for District Level Managing Board, Fish Farmers Development Agency for all Units Aizawl, Lunglei, Saiha, Lawngtlai, Kolasib and Mamit are as under:-

1. Duration of terms of:- 2 years from the date of formation the Board.

2. Duties and responsibilities:-

(i) Recommendation programmes as per guidelines of Fish Farmers Development Agency pertaining to the District for approval by the State Level Managing Board for submission of proposal to Govt. of India.

(ii) Recommending beneficiaries for final selection by the State Level Managing Board in line with programmes agreed and fund released by the State Level Managing Board pertaining to the Dist.

(iii) District Level Monitoring and evaluation of the programmes and approval of the reports for submission to the State Level Managing Board.

(iv) The District Level Managing Board should have at least 3 (three) sitting in every financial year.

(a) For recommending activities to be taken up.

(b) For recommending beneficiaries for final selection.

(c) For review of monitoring and evaluation report for submission to the State Level Managing Board.
